Import GML¶
Use this dialog to import a GML file into application layers in an automated way.
Where can I find the dialog?¶
Go to File - Import..., select the GML file you want to import into application layers, and click Open.
Using the Dialog¶
The dialog shows the file contents, including object types and associated XSD schemas. Select the object types you want to import by checking them.
If the GML file has attachments, such as images, you can choose which project subfolder to copy them to. The path in the object's hyperlink tab is updated accordingly.
Each object type becomes its own application layer with the same name as the object type. You can also add a Name Prefix to these application layers.
A set of XSD schemas is included with the installation of Gemini Terrain. If a schema referenced in the file is missing, you can add it to the user folder with Install New Schemas....
Downloading schemas¶
The system never downloads files automatically. You must always review the list of available files and then click Download to confirm the action.
The following rules apply when downloading schemas:
- The system always shows a confirmation dialog so you can review files before the download starts.
- If an address looks suspicious, or you do not recognize it, do not download the file. Instead, contact the sender and ask for the XSD file itself or a trusted URL for the schema.
- The system never downloads files over HTTP, only HTTPS. The system also verifies that the website certificate is valid. If the certificate is invalid, or any security deviation is detected, the download is cancelled automatically.
- If a downloaded file has additional dependencies, the system does not download those automatically either. The dependencies are added to the list, and you must start the download again to confirm that they should be retrieved.
