Document measurements¶
Use this dialog to generate, select, and upload documentation for registered measurements. When measurements are approved during validation, their documentation is included in the measurement history and sent to Gemini ProAdm.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
On the toolbar, select the Document measurements... icon.
How to document measurements¶
Procedure
- Select a file and contract item. Use the filters if needed.
- Select the measurement or measurements you want to document.
- Select an existing attachment with Select file, or generate a drawing or mass report.
- Review the attachment, add a comment if needed, and click Upload.
Overview of completed registrations¶
By default, the dialog shows measurements from files in the active drawing that have not been approved in validation. Use the filters to narrow the list or show registrations from more sources and with other statuses.
File and contract item¶
The files in the active drawing are listed in the upper-left corner of the dialog.
Select the files and contract items whose registrations you want to view. Use the search fields to find a specific file or item. Select Show only files with previous registrations to hide files that have not been used for measurement registration.
Note
- If you are editing profiles, the file containing the displayed profiles is preselected.
- If you select an SFI/EFI/XFI file in a terrain model drawing before starting Document measurements, that file is preselected.
Show registered measurements¶
Select which sources to show:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Drawing | The default. Shows registrations from files in the active drawing. |
| Cloud project | Shows measurements from the cloud project that contains the drawing. |
| Gemini Connected project | Shows registrations from the entire Gemini Connected project, including other cloud projects and registrations from the app or web. Registrations outside the cloud project are marked with X. |
Use Unit to filter by All (default), pcs, m, m², or m³. Use Status to filter by validation status:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| For approval or Incomplete | The default. Shows measurements that have not been approved and can have documentation attached. |
| For approval | Shows measurements that have not been quality-assured. |
| Incomplete | Shows measurements that need follow-up after validation. |
| Approved | Shows quality-assured measurements. You cannot attach documentation to these. |
| All | Shows measurements with all validation statuses. |
Show measurement on web¶
Right-click a registered measurement and select Show measurement on web:
- Measurements with the For approval or Incomplete status open in Validation.
- Approved measurements appear in the item's measurement history under Contract.
Attach documentation¶
Select the measurement or measurements to document. If you select multiple measurements, the attachment is linked to all of them.
The bottom of the dialog lists attachments that have already been uploaded and those that are ready to upload. The file name is shown with its file extension, so you can easily see the file type of each attachment.
A document icon with a star in the first column means that the measurement has a new attachment that has not been uploaded to Gemini Connected. After uploading, the icon appears without a star.
Select file¶
Select an existing file as an attachment. Change the file types shown using the dropdown menu in the lower-right corner.
Generate¶
Click the arrow to select:
- Drawing
- Mass report
- Drawing settings
Warning
If you close the dialog without uploading generated attachments, they are removed.
1. Generate - Drawing¶
Generate an A4 PDF without setting the print options yourself. The result depends on the drawing type. This function is mainly intended for cross-section drawings.
The PDF is saved with an automatically generated filename in a temporary folder (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp). In the attachment list, it appears with the display name Drawing followed by the generation time. This name is also shown in Gemini Connected.
Content by drawing type¶
| Drawing type | PDF contents |
|---|---|
| Presentation drawing for cross-sections or longitudinal profile | Only the mass types and profiles included in the selected measurements. For cross-sections, the profile interval in the presentation drawing is used. If the interval is 0, one section is generated for each cross-section where the mass type is present. If the interval is greater than 0, sections are generated at that interval, but only where the mass type is present. You only need to define the required sheet and title block and insert the SFI model. The selected measurements determine which mass types are shown. |
| Terrain model drawing (2D map drawing) | The data in the drawing, without a title block. To limit the content, change the terrain model area and enable Clip objects outside area in 2D. |
| Presentation drawing for plan view | The contents of the drawing, regardless of which measurements the attachment is linked to. |
| Manual sheet | The PDF may be limited to selected measurements, depending on its contents. It may be easier to print the presentation drawing to PDF using File - Print, then add the PDF with Select file. |
Note
Generate - Drawing is not available in 3D view. Export the 3D view as an image and add it with Select file, or insert the image into a presentation drawing.
PDF printer¶
Set the PDF printer for Generate - Drawing under Gemini Terrain Settings - Personal settings - Reports - PDF to Gemini QuantiFlow. Microsoft Print to PDF is recommended by default.
2. Generate - Mass report¶
Generate a summary report in Excel. Run the macros to populate the report.
Warning
Save the report before uploading it so the information from the macros is saved. Otherwise, the report will be empty. Close Excel before returning to Document measurements and attaching the report with Upload.
The report shows the total quantity for the selection, which can include registrations from multiple files and contract items. Each item appears in its own column. If an item is used for multiple mass types, each mass type appears separately.
You can generate the report even if the file version differs from the one used during registration. You will be notified if the value in the file differs by more than 0.1% from the registered value.
The report is given an automatically generated filename in the same temporary folder as Drawing, and the display name Report followed by the generation time.
3. Generate - Drawing settings¶
Optionally change the default naming of generated drawings or temporarily change the scale.
Open¶
Open a selected, generated, or uploaded attachment. Review drawings and mass reports before uploading them.
Remove¶
Remove selected or generated attachments.
- Attachments that have not been uploaded: The attachment is removed from the list immediately.
- Attachments that have been uploaded: If the measurement has not yet been approved, you can also remove uploaded attachments.
- Approved measurements: Attachments cannot be removed, and Remove is greyed out.
Change file name¶
Click the file name twice to rename the file. The file extension cannot be changed. The name is changed for all measurements that use the file. Once an attachment has been uploaded, its file name can no longer be changed.
Comment on attachment¶
Left-click in the Comment column to add a comment to the attachment. The comment follows the attachment for that measurement to the web solution and Gemini ProAdm.
Note
The same attachment can have different comments for the measurements it is linked to.
Upload¶
Click Upload to upload the documentation to Gemini Connected. If the same attachment is linked to multiple measurements, the file is uploaded once, and a reference is created from each measurement.
Remove registered measurements¶
You can delete individual measurements that have not been approved, or all measurements registered from a file.
Delete individual measurements that have not yet been approved¶
Right-click the measurement and select Delete measurement proposal. For example, you might do this if the measurement was registered before the latest measurements were available.
Warning
You cannot delete individual measurements that have been approved in validation.
Delete all measurements registered from a file¶
Use this function if you registered measurements from the wrong file, or if the file should no longer be used for measurement registration.
Danger
This deletes every measurement ever registered from the file for all items. This includes measurements pending validation and measurements that have been approved.
Right-click the file in the File list and select Delete all measurements registered from file.
After deleting the measurements, you can remove the file from the vertical Application layer or Models list.
Info
Gemini ProAdm handles the generation of compensating measurements when removed measurements have been included in invoicing.
