Export IFC (BETA)¶
Use this dialog to export a road to an IFC file, so that the road model can be used in other BIM tools, for example for interdisciplinary coordination, model checking, or visualization.
Note
The function is in BETA. Check the exported file in an IFC viewer before you share it.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
You can open the dialog in two ways:
- In the model list: right-click the road and select Export - Export to IFC on the context menu.
- In the properties dialog for the SFI model: select the Import/Export tab and click Export to IFC.
General¶
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Export type | Shows the type of object being exported, for example Road. You cannot change this field. |
| IFC schema | Select the version of the IFC standard the file is written in. IFC4X3 is the version that supports infrastructure objects such as roads, alignments, and layers in the road body. |
Coordinate System¶
Here you specify the coordinate system and the elevation system that the exported model is georeferenced in. The program writes this information to the IFC file, so that the receiving program can place the model correctly.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| To coordinate system | Select the horizontal coordinate system for the export, for example ETRS89/UTM ZONE 32N. |
| To elevation system | Select the elevation system for the export, for example NN2000. |
| Compound | Shows the compound coordinate system written to the file, with its EPSG code, for example EUR89 32 (EPSG: 25832). The field updates when you change the coordinate system or elevation system, and you cannot edit it directly. |
If you select a coordinate system other than the project's, the program transforms the coordinates to the selected system during export.
All coordinates in the IFC file are relative to the project base point specified in Settings Gemini Terrain - Project - IFC.
Info
See IFC for settings for the project base point and IFC export at project level.
Layers to Export as Superstructure¶
The list shows the layers in the road, for example Formation, Deep blasting, Wearing course, and Base course. Select the layers to export as superstructure.
The program exports the superstructure layers as IfcCourse with PredefinedType set to PAVEMENT.
Options¶
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Export terrain strata | Includes the terrain strata in the IFC file, for example the terrain surface. |
| Export hyperlinks | Includes the hyperlinks in the SFI model as IfcDocumentInformation. The hyperlinks are attached either to the road or to individual profile numbers, which are exported as IfcReferent. |
| Export as 3D lines | Exports the road body as 3D lines (IfcGeometricCurveSet). |
| Export as triangle net | Exports the road surfaces as triangle nets. |
Exporting the Road¶
Procedure
- Select Export to IFC for the road in the model list or in the properties dialog.
- Specify the file name and location of the IFC file. The Export IFC (BETA) dialog then opens.
- Select the IFC schema.
- Select To coordinate system and, if needed, To elevation system. Check that Compound shows the correct EPSG code.
- Select the layers to export as superstructure.
- Select what to include under Options.
- Click OK to export.
