Area of Use

Surface modeling is used when there is a need to:

• process and quality-assure point cloud data before further use
• create terrain and surface models from scanned data
• reconstruct complex surfaces with overhangs or break geometry
• combine multiple data sources into one unified model, for example to find the lowest excavation or blasting level
• perform volume calculations, area calculations, and geometric control
• document deviations between projected and actual execution
• produce models and reports for further design, construction, and final documentation

The module is relevant in planning, design, construction, and as-built documentation.
