Basic Workflow

The functions for swept path analysis and sight control are found in the Planning, design and construction toolset in Gemini Terrain:

Swept Path Curves

See the dialog help for a detailed description of the usage.

Sight Control

See the dialog help for a detailed description of the usage.

Example workflow for swept path analysis:

  1. Open the project in Gemini Terrain+
  2. Verify that the model basis is up to date
  3. Go to the Planning, design and construction toolset
  4. Select the swept path function
  5. Select the dimensioning vehicle
  6. Define the alignment or maneuver
  7. Evaluate the result and adjust the geometry as needed

Prerequisites

To obtain correct results, verify that:

  • the correct vehicle is selected or defined
  • the vehicle geometry is correctly specified
  • any rear axle steering is accurately described
  • the alignment or maneuver is realistic
  • the designed geometry is up to date
  • the terrain and relevant obstacles are modeled
  • the analysis is assessed against applicable requirements and project prerequisites

Results

The analysis can be used to:

  • document accessibility
  • identify conflict points early
  • check area requirements
  • assess sight conditions
  • analyze special vehicles and vehicles with advanced steering
  • support design and quality assurance

The results must always be assessed professionally and in relation to applicable regulations and project requirements.
