Export¶
Once the road is fully designed, you can export it from Gemini Terrain in several ways – to field (total station/GPS and machine control), to the clipboard for reuse in other application layers, or to 3D DWG. This chapter describes the three methods.
Export SFI Model to Total Station/GPS or Machine Control¶
The SFI model can be exported to:
- LandXML (cross-sections)
- LandXML (3D lines)
- Leica DBX database
- Visual Digger LandXML (3D lines)
- Topcon LandXML (cross-sections)
- Trimble DC 10
- VIPS ascii (IND)
- Anpakke
Procedure
- Select the centerline in the plan view window
- Right-click and select SFI properties...
- Open the Import/export tab
- Click Export to field...
- Select format, for example Leica DBX database
- Select layer type Gemini theoretical
- Select layer name, for example Road surface
- Click Folder... and select the target folder for export
- Click Export
Info
See Export to Field for a complete overview of available formats and options.
Export Road Lines to Clipboard¶
Road lines in a project can be exported to an application layer. These can then be pasted into an application layer or in Gemini Survey.
Procedure
- Select the line definition on screen (the SFI file)
- Choose Copy geometry from QE to clipboard from the toolbar
- Select Roads and intersection objects and click OK
- Select the layer where the data should be pasted and right-click
- Choose Paste objects and click OK in the message
Export Road Body to 3D DWG¶
The road can be exported to 3D DWG. The different elements of the road body are then placed on separate layers.
| Layer name | Description |
|---|---|
| VIPS surface group 0 | Main surface |
| VIPS surface group 1 | Carriageway |
| VIPS surface group 2 | Shoulder |
| VIPS surface group 3 | Additional surfaces |
| VIPS surface group 4 | Ditch |
| VIPS surface group 5 | Rock cut |
| VIPS surface group 6 | Soil cut |
| VIPS surface group 7 | Fill |
Procedure
- Switch to 3D view
- Turn off the display of everything except the road body
- Select File - Export - Export to dxf/dwg
- Accept the suggestion, or enter a filename and click Save
